Brycen is now a big, BUSY boy! He doesn't like to sit still. So, I tried putting him on this little washtub to keep him in front of the camera. It worked for a minute and then... he was ready to climb down!

So.... we gave him blocks to keep him occupied while he was in front of the camera. That was fun for another minute and then...

He gave us those puppy dog eyes!

And then.... he did this!

He was out like a light and he stayed where we put him!

And it seems that no matter how many babies I watch grow from a newborn to an infant - I am always amazed to see it happen again.

He's so perfect looking... he almost looks plastic. But believe me, he is as real as he can be!

He was just so sweet!

He behaved as perfectly as he looks!

I hope to see him back for 3 Month, 6 Month, 9 Month and One Year Pictures. I wonder if he will be just as sweet, then?

And - I believe he will!

If his older brother is an indication of what a fine job their parents are doing, I'd say that this little one is going to be taught well.

This sweet baby girl just turned three months!

And she was super cooperative for pictures!

Normally, at three months, babies are a bit difficult. They're too alert for sleepy baby poses and they're too small to support themselves in sitting positions. So posing choices are limited.

But, we had no problems posing Natalie! She was pretty happy - no matter what. Don't you just love a happy baby?

And isn't she just an adorable little thing?

And YES! She's just as perfect in real life as she looks in these pictures. That's another thing that I loved about her. She had perfect, clear skin and she was squeaky clean - so there was very little editing to do! :-)

Announcing A New Blog

I've named it "Mud Pies and Tea Parties" because making mud pies and having tea parties are fairly common activities around our house.

My son, Billy, and his beautiful bride, Alyssa, were married on December 17th. Since then, I've been working on wedding photos - and have finally finished a 1st Draft of their album. I couldn't get the preview from the album to show on my blog, so I've just uploaded the pages. The album itself is BEAUTIFUL. I first met Iralynn when she was a newborn and she came in for newborn pictures.

Now she's 6 months old and just look at her! She's a little doll! She's also a very pleasant baby girl and so full of happy faces and expressions!

And she totally loves herself!

This was sooooo cute! We put her down, hoping to get some cute shots of her looking at herself, but she just couldn't resist kissing that pretty girl in the mirror. She did this over and over again. It was just too cute!

And don't you just love all of her little happy faces!

I'm so glad we got lots of pictures of that adorable gummy smile before her top teeth came in. I'm sure it will be adorable with teeth, too.... but these are smiles we won't want to forget!

Haley Turns One!

This little girl was such a sweetie pie! I absolutely loved working with her!

She is just one of those babies that you really just hate to see leave!

We did One Year Old Pictures and a Cake Smash, and she was absolutely adorable! It's nice to see a pleasant, happy baby who is secure in the knowledge that she is loved. And this little girl is just that. Loved and cherished and absolutely adored by her Mommy... just as a baby should be!

These sweet little girls live in our neighborhood and I'm so happy to have them! We've already gotten to go to Alison's Birthday Party at Jumping Jax, Nations of Fun and we've played together at the park. Grace has also been to their house to play and they play so well together! And this is only the beginning. We have so much to look forward to. Tea Parties... playing in the pool... the new neighborhood park.... and who knows, we may get a chance to go sledding soon?

Christmas Ornaments

I'm ordering new Christmas 2011 Ornaments with the girls pictures on them for my tree. These ornaments are also available for purchase - and can be custom designed. They are metal prints, cut into a snowflake design (other designs available) and hung with a red ribbon. They are so, so cute!

Unique Family Photos for a Unique Family

This is the Thompson Family!

They wanted something a little unique for their family portrait session this year, so we visited a few old abandoned buildings to try to come up with something that was uniquely "them".

Dave Thompson is a youth minister and musician and he and his wife Shana are super cool, so we needed some cool pictures to fit their style.

Their youngest two kiddos are just 1 and 2 years old, so posing was a bit of a challenge. They're good kids, but posing for pictures in places they'd rather explore is a bit much to ask of any little one.

But.... aren't they cute!

Shana is an excellent Mom and her kids are about as well behaved as you will ever see. I love doing pictures for them!

We did get to stop for fun from time to time, too!

S is for Smith!

During the Smith Family Photo Shoot, I took these pictures of things we saw along the trail! Braylon can spot the coolest things. I'd love to be able to view the world through his eyes for a day. And I'd love to have my camera with me while doing so. I'd probably get a beautiful collection of photos that would make wonderful artwork for the world to view. He's an amazing kid - and he was quick to spot the "S" in the end of the railroad tie fence. "S" is for Smith, you know.... and for Sapenter.... his Mother's maiden name.

Beautiful little berries! We didn't touch them, pick them or eat them because the animals in the forrest need them more than we do. Braylon told me all about the little squirrels and things that are storing food for the winter.

Tenley's Daddy is a Firefighter, so we had to get this shot! Hopefully, it'll make Daddy proud!And Tenley played with this little step while I took many of these pictures. His Daddy is in the Army right now and deployed. His Momma is managing her three boys just fine as most Army wifes do.... but what a sacrafice. Can you imagine having to be away from THIS?

I think we often overlook the little things when we think about deployment. And it's the little things that really make it so hard to be away. First smiles, first steps, first words, open house at school, soccer games, football games and birthday parties. Helping with baths, tucking little ones in and goodnight kisses...I'm grateful for our soldiers and their sacrifices.And for Alexander!

Shooting his pictures was a real blessing! And I hope his Daddy gets to see and enjoy them all!

We're staying busy with fall football. I think Pee Wee Football is my favorite division! In Pee Wee Football, players wear pads and they get to tackle and since tackling is new to them, they give it all they've got!It's so cute watching them dive into the opposing teams players!When it comes to football, we do mostly team and individual pictures.

A Is For Apple

Grace has started Preschool!She is following in the footsteps of her Momma and home schooling. She is doing GREAT!We are using the Letter of the Week Curriculum offered by Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler and last week the Letter of the Week was A!

A is for Apple, so we picked apples and Grace helped make an Apple Crisp and Applesauce!

She tasted everything to make sure it was delicious!

Yum!

And for those of you who know anything about trees - did you notice anything unusual about that apple tree? The apples in Oklahoma didn't fare too well this year. We had a late freeze, then a drought combined with 88 days of triple digit temperatures.

So, we improvised! After all, we didn't need many apples - just an apple picking experience. We got that by carefully hot gluing apples onto the tree for Grace to pick. When she got here she spotted the apples right away and went right to picking.

The Bride & Groom Together

Getting pictures of the Bride and Groom together are often some of your most difficult shots. Why? Because often the Bride doesn't want to be seen by the Groom until she walks down the aisle. That means they are taken after the ceremony when there are people waiting at the reception, so shots are often rushed.

And in the case of a sunset ceremony, you often run out of light!

Here - we took advantage of the low light situation and got a few romantic shots!

And a sun flare peeking through a kiss!They look so "in love"! But - isn't that how newly weds are supposed to look?The gorgeous couple!Again!And again!

I love this one.... so romantic!And again! This is one couple that should have plenty of picture of the two of them on their wedding day!

The Ceremony

A few good shots of the ceremony are a must at a wedding!This one was set outdoors at sunset.The lighting is dim, but we managed to still get good shots!And as beautiful as the mountains are in color, I still seem to prefer black & white! So - I did a nice mixture of both! After all, it's what Brandi likes that matters!

Another very important element of a wedding is The Bride! Isn't she stunning? We didnt have the opportunity to do bridals prior to wedding day, so I worked especially hard to get come good portraits of her by herself. And I am so glad I did. I love these!The Bride with the Flower Girl.The Bride by herself! This shows off both her perfectly fit body and her beautiful dress!And another shot of the bride by herself.

This particular bride, Brandi... was a joy to work with! She was easy going and positive in every way. I hope the groom knows how lucky he is!

The one and only dress that flatters her the most and is absolutely beautiful in every way. It has to be perfect! So, naturally, I must get a few nice shots of the dress! We did a BEAUTIFUL wedding Saturday the 13th!

And when it comes to weddings, I like to get a unique ring shot that seems to "fit" the couple!

This wedding was set in the Wichita Mountains... so, I thought this shot was appropriate!Or... maybe this one! The rings here are placed on a deer antler chandelier. And - I always like to get a few shots with the groom and the ring as well!

Baby Gwen's nursery is done in rubber duckies, so I did this to match! Gwen is trying to cooperate by making ducky faces! Isn't she just adorable?She is already a little princess. She is happy and content.... UNTIL..... you put her down. And, she has to be put down for pictures! I hear it's he Daddy that has her spoiled!

Way to go, Dad! REALLY! Nothing is more important for a little girl than being secure in her Father's love. Keep loving that baby and she'll be just fine!We did get some cute shots... but not as many as I or Gwen's Mommy would like, so Gwen should be coming back to see me soon.

In the event that I can't get a nice selection of portraits, it is my policy to do a free re-shoot. Sometimes with little ones a re-shoot at a different time of day is all that is needed to get their full cooperation!

I know I posted this picture of Hoyt last week.... but I wanted to include it again to show what a variety we were able to get out of one session. Hoyt came in with a belt that belonged to his Grandpa. He's named after his Grandpa so the belt has his name on it. And, my little watering troth has perfect little loops to hold the belt on it's frame. Hoyt's boots also fit perfectly into this scene. This is my favorite photo from the session!This shot is awfully cute, too! Look at that tough guy look on Hoyt's face!And - what do you think of this green? I shoot so many babies on pink or blue, I thought I'd try to get away from that a little. This bright green screems for attention and looks really cute with Hoyt and his monkey!I thought this was just darling, too! It looks like Hoyt has already had enough of the Oklahoma sunshine!We did some traditional newborn baby poses as well.

And yes.... this was all one session! Hoyt's Mommy and Daddy and Grandpa and Grandpa and all of his Aunts and Uncles can select a photo that suits them! Hopefully there is something in his galleries that everyone loves! And I know there will be. Each picture in his gallery is of HIM, and that's something they all love bunches!

Deer Hunting

Grace spent the night so we woke up early and did a little deer hunting.

This photo was actually taken by Grace! Her first deer!

I hunt vegetarian style.... using a camera, not a gun!I love the way the morning light sneaks through the trees here.And here a little buck is keeping a close eye on Grace - who is still in her pajama's. You have to get up with the sun to see wildlife.... getting dressed and combing you hair can wait!

Deuce opening his present!I don't think Grace was quite as excited about what he got! But, HE liked it!It's an automatic deer feeder. Deuce is an avid hunter and has been deer hunting almost every season since he was a young teen - so this might be something he can use!

However, it didn't interest the little girls at all. They would rather just swim!

July Birthdays - Part 1

We celebrate birthday's with a monthy party. For July, we celebrated Heather & Deuce's birthdays. Heather's birthday is the 20th and Deuce's is the 26th and they are a year and six days apart.... which made life interesting when they were small.

Grace helped each of them open their presents!Here she is helping Heather, who got an old fashioned ice cream freezer. Only - this ice cream freezer can be modern, also. It has an electric motor AND a hand crank. You just attach whichever one you prefer to use. I liked that because you can mix the ice cream with the motor for the majority of the time - yet, let the kids have the experience of the hand crank, too!I think Olivia liked it! She didn't get any ice cream... but maybe next time?The ice cream freezer - which we were quick to try out!And while we were scooping the ice cream, Grace licked the paddle clean!We also got to swim!Grace is getting pretty good at swimming!

This family chose to do their family portraits in the 100 Degree heat!I think they turned out beautiful, though.... don't you?They wanted to do pictures with their son, who only stays with them during the summer months! And in Oklahoma, the summer months are HOT!But, I think getting this face in their pictures was well worth waiting for. He's super handsome.... don't you think?And the man of the house will soon be deploying - so I thought this dreamy pose might be nice to look at while he's away. No matter how far the Army sends him, I'm sure his wife and son will be on his mind!

Meet Deon!

Deon Sanders, that is!Isn't he cute?He's a big, strong, healthy baby boy! He weighed in at 8 lbs. 14 oz.

And his Momma is a skinny little thing!Deon is such a sweet baby, too! He's happy and content and he loves to be cuddled and loved on! I'm sure he gets plenty of loving, too. You can see the love in his Momma's eyes when she looks at him. And you can tell that he feels her love when she picks him up and holds him close and his whole body relaxes in perfect peace!

Summer Continues....

The pool is refreshing and cool. The butterfly garden is growing and the butterflies are beginning to make regular visits. It's HOT outside, but since I'm pretty much finished with my teams and am not working in the heat, I kind of enjoy it... because summer is, after all, such a magical time!The flowers seem to be lifting their faces towards heaven reminding us that we, too, should be giving thanks! In spite of all the tormoil in this world, we have so much to be grateful for. In America, we have the freedom to worship as we choose. We can follow the world and blend in or we can choose to be different.And if we choose to be different we are especially blessed when we find someone to be different with. For some strange reason these two yellow blooms clinging together on a pink flower remind me of the oneness God intended for marriage partners.

Grace actually WANTED to have her picture taken.So - we took a few! She had just gotten out of the pool and she has sunblock slathered on her face and in her hair - but she WANTED her picture made. By the time we had given her a bath and gotten her ready she might have changed her mind.

So - we stuck a bow and a tutu on her and took pictures!

The Greatest Show On Earth!

Last Sunday, we went to the circus!And since our area is in a burn ban and fireworks (even public displays) have been banned as a precaution, this is about the closest we will get to seeing fireworks this year.Grace LOVES the circus. Especially, the jugglers. We went to a small circus not too long ago and she is still talking about the man that juggled, and telling us what all he juggled. And Barney's Circus DVD is her favorite!She really REALLY likes the character on Barney who has the Mighty Muscles. So, at the All Access Pre-Show we introduced her to the Strong Man and she suddenly became a bit shy!

I thought it was cute!

And - there's a lesson to be learned here!

When confronted by any sort of stronghold, we should all snuggle up to our heavenly Father for safety - just as Gracie is snuggled up to her Daddy in this picture.
But - that's a lesson for another day!

These are Human Firecrackers!

So - we got to see fireworks after all!And the elephants - which we learned are pachyderms! Grace like elephants and chose an elephant as her souveneer.

The lion tamer!

Why do they call the man who works with TIGERS a LION TAMER?And Gracie on the elephant's perch during the pre-show. She's pretending to be an elephant. See-she's even sticking out her trunk!This elephant is Kelly Ann. Kelly Ann is very talented. Here, she is painting a picture of the audience!A friendly clown! The tall man giving Grace a high five!A funny looking wheel!These reminded me of the Shishi Dogs we used to see in Japan!And after it was all over Grace got to spend the night with me - Grandma! Here she is after her bath with her favorite blanket, her clown hat and her own little Kelly Ann watching the circus again on DVD! This girl can't seem to get enough of the circus!

Summer Fun!

It's summer and I have just about finished my sports teams. So, I am planning to spend a lot of time hanging out with these three and relaxing in the pool!

Brilyn has pictures done on the 23rd of every month. She wears a white onsie with a sticker on it that tells how old she is and sits in a hat box. The hat box will give us something for size comparison as she grows.

And while she is here I like to do something else. So, for June, I did this!Isn't she just darling?

She was wearing a shirt, but she spit up on it so we pulled it off and replaced it with a long string of pearls.

I think I like the pearls better, anyway!

Her mother contacted me about doing her pictures for choir because I do her younger brother and her younger sister's pictures for sports and they wanted an extra curricular type of photo of her, also - to hang with the others.

So, instead of a Memory Mate we did a Magazine Cover!

And - her 4x6 and Wallet Photos will look like this!

Now, her pictures can hang proudly with the others!
